Hi All
i am due to start my second cycle of chemo on the 3rd on a lower dosage of Capecitabine.
the thing is the doctor has said that if she feels it is not right for me after, then she will change my regime to that of IV chemo, although she has not stated which i will (maybe) have to have.
this makes me at least majorly nervous.
i thought the first cycle went ok but i got an infection at the end of it (non cancer related) that gave my severe diarrhoea and yet she thinks it will happen again.
can anyone give me a general idea of what i might face if i have to go IV style please.
thanks in advance
Were you checked for a DPD deficiency before starting?

I am sorry to say I have no idea what that is let alone if I was checked for it. I do have blood tests before starting a cycle.
Living in Thailand with the doctors not always being good at English does not help.
Hi they found the issue and it's not side effect related instead it's an infection of the stomach lining. Should be home in a few days and second cycle hopefully in a week or 2. Thanks for the kind wishes and support it means the world to me
I don’t think that I was tested for it (or not that I was aware of) Hopefully this cycle will be straight forward and worry about a different chemo if you get to it?
that is my hope too but i guess i will have to wait for 4 weeks total to find out.
as for not worrying until it happens? well if you have a connection to my brain that i clearly dont please tell it. i am sorry to say i will and am a worry all the way kinda person and yes that does mean i will be on here and often asking for help thus
I am Sorry (in advance) haha
equally sorry for the stupid humour its a defence position i always use supposed to help me feel better.
thanks as always
