I received the "all clear" yesterday

After discovery of a tumour in the splenic juncture in January, laparospic surgery in March, and 6 months, 8 rounds, of CAPOX, I got the good news yesterday that, atm there is no evidence of disease.

I've been fortunate in that the only real side effects have been neuropathy in finger tips, feet and toes, which I think (hope) will diminish over the next few weeks and months.

I'll be 74 in a couple of weeks, and have been fit all my life, so I'mlooking forward to getting on with my life, interupted only by the regular scans, blood analysis, and colonoscopies for 5 years.

I live in Spain, and believe the excellent care I've received here would have been just as good in the UK. Thank goodness for public health systems, I shudder to think what patients in the US have to go through if they're not wealthy for instance.

To those of you starting your journey, it's daunting at first, especially when you are diagnosed but waiting for a paln, but it's all "doable", and you're in the hands of experts, who are constantly reviewing your progress, making adjustments if necessary, and delivering great results. I wish you all the best, plus lots of support in this forum.

  • Thank you for sharing this. It gives so much positivity to everyone who is going through this. My husband is having a tumor removal surgery on coming Tuesday. Hopefully, everything will be okay.

  • Really pleased to hear your good news. I’m due my first surveillance CT scan on 9th December and I’m feeling quite positive. I don’t come on here as much as I did in the beginning of my journey but I won’t ever forget all the support I got on here, including from yourself. Wishing you all the best.
