Had my operation 2 weeks ago, and I'm now constipated,  I'm drinking 2 litres of water a day, but isnt helping, any suggestions please

  • Are you still on a low fiber diet? It is very common to be constipated on a low fiber diet. If problematic, talk to your doctor. The traditional advice is to add fiber but I'm not sure that's a good Idea so soon after surgery. I wouldn't do it without medical advice.

Also, if taking opiod meds for pain, try to switch to paracetamol.  Opiod meds are the only thing that will reliably constipate me (I usually have the opposite problem).

    • Thanks Susan, I'm back to my normal diet, now.was  prescribed a couple of sachets of Laxido, took them and nothing happened, so looked online and recommended trying a different sitting position on the toilet.Omg what a difference this has made, honestly,  was so pleased with myself when the poo finally moved. Its sitting down with your feet resting on a foot stool, so your knees are higher than your hips.
