Hello

I had Fit stool test my number was 27 on the scale of test now I'm on Gateway 2 week cancer pathway.

I will see the consultant at Whiston Hospital in Merseyside on the 22nd of July. I'm absolutely petrified and is anyone in this position as I'm a 49 year old lady and in 2021 I had lung cancer and was caught early enough and had operation and had upper lobe on left side removed and no cancer in lungs for two years now do have check up for lung cancer in October this year so 3 years then free of lung cancer but I'm scared now I might have colon cancer and really don't know what to expect from this. Any advice would be welcome.

Thank you Joanne x

  • Hi  27 is pretty low on the fit test scale. There are lots of things that can cause blood in the stool such as haemorrhoids, colitis, ibs, diverticulitis and only 1 in 10 colonoscopies results in a bowel cancer diagnosis.

I’ve attached a link to a recent post which you might like to read?

     A bit scared

The main thing is to get checked out and then go from there. The support desk is available on the number below if you want a chat too

    Take care
