How long does it take for treatment to start
May I suggest clicking my name and you will see a personal account of my journey to a 'new normal' life. Timescales vary but I found that if something was urgent it was dealt with quickly. Bear in mind that there will be periods when nothing seems to be happening, but in fact it is and some stages of treatment have to be left to take effect and this can take weeks rather than days. At times he might think he has been forgotten but patients are under constant review and the truly urgent cases are treated urgently. Go with the flow and this is one area of life where the squeaky wheel doesn't necessarily get the grease!

Hi Rosie13 It’s hard to say as it probably varies from one health authority to another? I was under Calderdale and Kirklees in 2016 and my timeline is below - my profile page also shows some treatment stages
22/7 colonoscopy - 99% sure tumour is cancerous
9/8 cancer confirmed at meeting with surgeon
12/8 meeting with radiotherapy consultant
16/8 meeting with oncologist
18/8 pre-assessment at hospital
22/8 started treatment
28/11 surgery
I had 5 weeks of mon-fri chemoradiotherapy, then surgery with a temporary stoma, then 8 sessions of follow up chemo then the stoma reversed. I was diagnosed in 2016 and had stoma reversed in March 2018 when all my treatment had finished. I’ve been ‘no evidence of disease’ since x
