Hi everyone

I'm Steph from the Community team Slight smile

Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer.  The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.

Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:

Family and friends forum

Carers only forum

Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum

You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?

We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk

  • Ditto Les is the same and puts on such a brave face so not to get me stressed. Well Rufus needs to go out in the garden.

Will text later.  Love to all xxx

  • I think we have similar journey time, providing there are no delays or diversions.  This should be his quiet week only picc flush,  but  ct today & mri tomorrow & Diabetic review Fri.  I find another week going is going to fly past us.   Hope your husband gets his treatment tomorrow.  Another tense day for you both not knowing or how he will respond to his treatment.

    1. All the best Thumbsup
  • Understand, Rufus needs his  garden routine.  We have just done our walk with the dogs before we go to the hospital .

    Have a better day x

  • We will try but he must have got bit and is itching and scratching himself. Just been out shopping with daughter and been in garden with Rufus. Back to work for a couple of hours now and be back later xx

  • Good luck for the scans this week , and picc line flush is the most frustrating it’s takes about 10 minutes doesn’t it and you can sometimes sit a while waiting as well as the drive and that’s the week off !!
No chemo this week leg is getting better but he has to be 5 days of antibiotics to have chemo , so he is hoping for Monday his booked in if all well Fingers crossed.

and I completely understand the worry on how he will respond to the treatment sometime times are worse than others xxx

what a roller coaster and waiting for scan results is nerve wracking!!!! Xx

    Good luck !! Xx

  • Les can’t have chemo today as his neutrophils are only 0.5. Absolutely devastated and so is Les. Any suggestions on how to raise them before next Monday when he has bloods etc done xx

  • I am so sorry that chemo cannot go ahead this week.   Very disappointing for both of you.   I didn't realise you have to be off antibiotics for several days, they might have worked against his treatment.   Fingers crossed for Monday.

Yes its frustrating waiting for picc flush,  but yesterday all went  well and on time, after his ct scan.   Mri  today. Should have results Monday, but have a feeling  his appt will be cancelled.

  • Sorry to hear chemo is cancelled today.   My husband gets stressed when his bloods are out .   He has lots of rest  and usually picks up within a few days.   Cns  may be able to advise you  how to improve his neutrophils.

  • No sorry we are the same no chemo because his got to be of antibiotics for 5 days before chemo , leg a lot better but still swelling a bit when he walks !!  What even is neutrophils?? Xx

  • My fingers are very firmly crossed for you for good results and chemo Fingers crossedmad that we are hoping for chemo .

we didn’t know you have to be off antibiotics for 5 days either . Xx
