Hi everyone
I'm Steph from the Community team
Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer. The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.
Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:
Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum
You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?
We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk
Morning everyone your stories bring back so many memories to think I have to go through this again when Simon hopefully has a operation to remove this soft tissue and fatty tissue Cancer. Like Les he will not complain felt sorry for nurses but we had so many problems and mistakes that should not have happened but I do not drive and we are a hour away from hospital so have to ask people to take me hate it.Hope Les starts to get stronger very early days still I feel your pain Simon was in agony Saturday night and feeling sick but wouldn't let me ring ambulance because he knew nothing would get done at a weekend it is so sad to feel that way about hospital isn't it. Tomorrow we have a appointment to see a surgeon to see if anything can be done.THINKING OF YOU ALL LET'S HEAR SOME POSITIVE NEWS.XX
Hi Jkee. Back home and shattered. Les slept all the time we were there. Had a word with the nurses and they were really good. They seemed on the ball after I spoke to them so no complaining. Bloods and ct scan for him tomorrow. Doubt he will be any time soon if he does not pick up more but hospitals are boring and tiring even for me so I expect the oromorph and boredom is making him tired. I hope you get some good news tomorrow Jkee. Men are a pain and won’t listen to us at all. I hope Simon is feeling a little better after Saturday night.
We have not heard from Helen I really hope she is coping.
love to all, off to sit down and have a cuppa xxx
Well the doctor friend and nurse travelled to see him tonight. He was laughing and awake and they checked his bruise etc and said it is okay and not infected. Obviously bring his wife and daughter he goes to sleep. Mind he puts on a brave face xxx

Hi Everyone!
Thinking of you all with all your hospital dilemmas. Takes me back to when Jay was in. He wanted home desperately too when he was in but like that they wouldn't let him go until they were sure everything was Ok. He got so bored there too and it is exhausting having to go up and down every other day. He was no sooner home though than he had to be taken back in again as you all know. I think Jay was on oromorph as well Maggie think it is an opiod. He was on Fentanyl at the end don't know if that's the same but he had to have it through a patch on his arm as he could not take tablets because of his kidney damage. I wish you all well for this week and hope you all have some positive outcomes. Take Care ladies. Sending Hugs
Vicky xx
Than you Vicky for your continuing support. Just hoping the traffic is not too bad as that adds another half hour on the journey.
wishing good news for everyone today and sending my love and hugs xx
Thank you for your kind thoughts, Martin had his call this afternoon and everything is going in the right direction, I'm so relieved, I know it's a small step on a long road but a step in the right direction.
I hope everyone else has had some good news today.
Nancy x
