Hi everyone
I'm Steph from the Community team
Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer. The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.
Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:
Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum
You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?
We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk
Morning Vicky you must be finding it really hard just even putting one foot in front of other I feel we are with you the feelings you are going through are normal but as you say you do not want to miss a second being with Jay.Sending a massive hug to you today xx
Jkee that was a busy day. I hate meeting people. What on earth do you talk about as it is really hard. I do hope your day with the puppy and Simon goes better today. I thought only thought the other day about getting a pup then I read yours and I came to the conclusion it is too much like hard work. You too must have a large garden.
Patty try to be strong. Only torry knows what you are going through at present. The weather is warm as well and spending it in hospital must be horrendous with the heat etc. don’t even think about anything like that at all. You are exhausted with emotions etc. how long have you got the pills for. We are all behind you and supporting you on this dreadful journey. I will be thi king of you today as will everyone else.
look after yourselves everyone. Huge hugs Maggie xx
Thank you ladies!
Your support is really much appreciated.
xx
Hi Maggie luckily I'm a talker but her daughter has stage 4 cancer and has for 5 years so we were talking about that a lot about my children and the puppy but yeah it was draining . I do have 1 positive having the puppy I have not had time to think about the Cancer the days go quick and I'm not sat with the thoughts in my head the puppy goes in the crate at 10pm so do I shattered no time to think lol She is a church goes and has been for 40 years she did say a lot of stuff that was calming and prayed for us both which I did find emotional . Today is a quiet one hope everyone has peace today Vicky we are by your side always xx
Yes our psychiatrists friends go to church and they asked to go in another room at our house and the prayed. I found it very emotional and his wife started crying. I am not a good talker all. I just tend to listen and watch. I bet you don’t have time think with a puppy. Something good has come out of the misery so to speak. My good friend from school has just come home for a visit from Australia and she is a great help but her hubby is full of cold and can’t come due to Les immune system xx
That is a shame Maggie about your friends husband hope he get's chance to see Les. I find that is the hardest thing protected Simon from people with a cough or a cold my sister called coughing it's not a cold she said just a cough well just a cough is not what Simon needs . Grandchildren in morning again Bunged up nose my daughter said it's ok mum just hayfever but is it or is it a cold think sometimes people just don't think makes me anxious Simon gone for a small walk with my daughter and puppy bliss should I iron wash floor hoover no sat here bar of dairy milk and cuppa and a chat lol xx
Love it you do right sat with a cuppa in peace. My daughter finishes work as the girls catch everything going. She decided not to put her dad at risk and also she has to go self employed which she does not want to do. She is a hairdresser and everyone now hires chairs. She prefers to work for an employer. Probably best as then she is there for the girls. One sniff and she won’t come any where near her dad just in case. She is very thoughtful like that. The main reason though is being self employed. Enjoy your cuppa and chocolate xx
Nothing wrong with taking time out for a cuppa and chocolate- housework can get done any time!! A girl after my own heart - give me chocolate any day.
Councellor said she could see a big difference in me from last week, not back for a couple of weeks as she is on her hols.
Just been for a four and half mile walk with Sally and Tilly getting into practice for that long walk. Sally is now making my tea then it’s home and on the sofa.
Hope everyone has had an ok day.
Helen x
Helen gosh you are doing well with the walking have you done it before must be really good as well for your mental health well done you. I can see a big difference in you on here sounds like you and Sally are helping each other of course behind closed doors is different but you are a trouper getting out there relax this evening puppy asleep Simon asleep Emmerdale on best time of the day for me now what to eat xx
Hi torry. Gosh my knees or back could not walk that far at all. Well done to you. We are all very proud of you. As Jkee says you are a trooper and a strong person may I say. I am really pleased you are doing something worthwhile. Pleased the counsellor can see a difference as well. One day at a time.
I hope Patty has had a better day at the hospital.
huge hugs Maggie xx
