Hi everyone
I'm Steph from the Community team
Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer. The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.
Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:
Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum
You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?
We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk
Hi Helen how was your hols. I hope you managed to relax a bit xx
Hope all goes well with Les operation, best wishes! X
Maggie has he gone how are you holding up did they tell you how long he will be really hoping it goes well I am with you in thoughts wish we could hug you take care xx
Thank you all. As far as I am aware he was going down about 9 ish. I am now passed myself waiting for a phone call. I feel like going to the hospital as I could sit and cry. They said about 4 hours but that depends on what they have found when they go in. I am not holding up too well to be honest. I have just rang but admin could not get on the computer to find anything out xx
The waiting, and not knowing, is so difficult, Maggie. When my dad was in Freemans for his liver op I couldn’t resist calling a few times but invariably was told that he was still in theatre and there was no further update that they could provide. I think it also takes quite a while from when they go down to get them fully ready for the procedure, so I imagine that the 4 hours could quite easily be longer. You’re doing brilliantly so stay strong and there will be an update soon. Sending love x x
Thanks Matt. I have just rang and they are going to try and find out for me. I am not doing brilliant just shizzing myself with worry xxxx
It’s only natural that you will be incredibly worried. All that you’ve been through and that you’ve done to help Les get to this point in his treatment - that’s why I think you’re doing brilliantly. Keep us posted x x
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
