Hi everyone
I'm Steph from the Community team
Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer. The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.
Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:
Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum
You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?
We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk
Hi all. Gosh you are all having a real tough time of it.
Jkee I know what you mean about them not taking any notice of us as if we don’t know anything.
Vicky good luck with everything and I echo what Jkee says. You need to find yourself and have me time after the last year as it was very traumatic
Matt I hope you dad has settled at home and pleased he has got home.
me well I am a mess waiting for Saturday. Les is in pain but won’t take anything not even paracetamol. Just got to get through the next few days. He has just gone in the bath as it seems to ease it a little. In all honesty I still feel this is not real but come Saturday it certainly will be. Everyone says how well he looks, strange as he has lost over 3 stone and I bought him 32 waist trousers and he still needs braces to keep them up.
can’t really say much as in a bit of a state but definitely thinking of you all and sending hugs to one and all. Keep strong xx
Oh Bless You Maggie!
I really hope everything goes well for you on Saturday will be thinking about you. All you can do is try to think positive. Easier said than done I know but I think it's all you can do. I send you huge hugs and best wishes for Saturday. Take Care.
Vicky xx
Thanks Vicky. I am petrified for him and nerves are getting the better of me. He goes tomorrow to get marked up on the sites. Just dreading it I could cry but trying to stay positive for him. He is so anxious as we don’t know what they will be doing until they get in. you are all so strong and I feel like a right wus with tummy etc.
wishing you all the best and huge hugs xx
Vicky gosh I know how you must be feeling I was in the same position 5 weeks ago the day before you are a mess but once you are up and on way tomorrow you will get in the zone. I stayed at the hospital for 10 hours just wandering around they also didn't know anything until they opened him up but the outcome was they got it again and again so I am praying with Les you will both get a good outcome as well. Les needs this operation just keep telling yourselves as far as your tummy you know I was the same and still am you are both brave and strong we will be with you in our thoughts all day love and prayers to you and Les let us know anything whenever xxx
