Hi everyone
I'm Steph from the Community team
Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer. The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.
Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:
Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum
You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?
We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk
Dear cyclone. We are all private people on here. Your husband needs the support as well but it is every individuals choice. We have only told a few people and they are so supportive towards me and help me deal with husband’s diagnosis especially as he is in hospital and I can’t go due to flu like symptoms. Hubby told our family from the get go but no one on his side as they are not nice people. I have appreciated their support but this is your call. Sorry but I would not advise anyone on what they should or should not do. I came on here as there is so much support from carers etc and we all have a moan, laugh etc.
I wish you all the best xx
Hi Cyclone I understand your feeling we all have to decide you may have your reasons for not telling Family only you can decide. We only told very close family to be honest I got fed up of people ringing when I got back from hospital and having to repeat myself.Simon was the one going and is going through Cancer but I was the one having meltdown but I was the one one doing phone calls arranging appointments and caring for him so I see both sides. You will do what's best for you both.
Les is coming home today. I will have to stay away from him for a bit until all this has cleared up. I will now keep checking his blood pressure and temperature.
love to all xxxx
Good news Les is coming home and so the work goes on. Hope you start to feel better soon. I have been for more blood tests today and telephone app on Friday with doctor so will see what he says
Helen x
Helen I hope it is all good news. Don’t forget to let us all know. Just take care until then and look after yourself, easier said than done.

Hope all goes well when Les is home and you feel better I wore a mask when going near Simon when had cold and just washed hands etc Let's hope everything improves hugs to you xx
Hi Maggie!
Great news that Les is getting home but no so good that you'll need to keep your distance because of your cold. Hope everything works out ok for you. Oh yes! I remember checking the blood pressure and temperature regularly well much to Jay's displeasure but for him at times it was an essential and glad I did all those times he needed to go back into hospital hope it's not as bad as that for Les though. Take Care and hope you get better soon so you can be there more for him.
Vicky xx
Vicky his blinking tablets are not ready. He has also been given something for pancreatitis which may have been the cause for infection. He is not sure as could not take it all in. I will wait till he gets back, do tea and then off to bed for a while. I had to get up today and have a shower as had the same knickers on since Friday (dirty girl I am). Just another rollercoaster xx
