Hello everyone I wanted to share some good news to offer some hope to those on a stage 4 journey.
Today we found out that my husband Daniel is clear of cancer and we begin three monthly surveillance.
June 22 - He was diagnosed with tumour in caecum with one solitary met on his liver.
July / August 22 - Two cycles of Capox which didn’t go to plan due to chemo induced colitis, spent one month in the Marsden, however tumours shrunk sufficiently to be removed.
October 22 - Surgery cancelled on two occasions.
Early November 22 - Combined bowel and liver resection with clear margins achieved all round. Fairly text book recovery.
Mid December 22 - Started chemo; this time Folfox. Amazingly he tolerated this much better and has completed nine sessions over twenty two weeks; a couple were delayed towards the end due to low neutrophils.
Three clear scans since the start of second chemo.
Stage 4 to NED in 11 months is amazing however neither of us feel the elation we thought we would but perhaps in a while we might. Need to plan a holiday or two that might help.
This group has been amazing, too many people to name individually but to you all a massive thank you for all your support. I would not have got through without you ️.
Sending best wishes and strength during your journey.

Oh fantastic news Buzz K . When you read back all you both went through it was such a lot but so pleased it was successful.
He was a great responder to treatment.
However I completely get what you mean . You have put your all into trying to get to this point that it’s hard to know what to do when you have arrived . But give it time as it settles and normal life creeps back in .
The hospital starts to fade into the back ground . A good holiday sounds a way forward .
Take care ,

Aww that’s great news Karen. Totally understand the lack of elation but a couple of holidays and a few more ned scans and you’ll feel life is starting to move forward again
Take care and keep in touch

such wonderful news. I can understand the delayed elation, the cancer journey is like being on a runaway train and when you get good news, its almost unreal, like experiencing PTSD . I am sure that you will be able to absorb this good news and celebrate but give yourselves time. Your journey has been traumatic and after the previous setbacks, good news is good to hear but hard to enjoy. Well done to the both of you, your husband for being such a fighter and to you for being so amazing in your support to him xx
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
