Friday morning I’m flying to Portugal for our first real holiday since I was diagnosed.

the idea of needing the toilet before boarding ( it takes an hour sometimes to empty my bowel) or during the flight is making me ill.

my plan is stop eating tomorrow plus my specialist has told me to take 3 movicol sachets to fly with an empty bowel but still I’m so stress about it.

my husband and I are going for a 50th bday party so there’s going to be people, drinks, food, party and me not a good combination ScreamScream.

not only that we are flying Monday late and flying Tuesday morning early to one of my husbands best friend 50th party. I’m trying to see the bright side of this I’ll be looking fantastic by the time I’m back to London

  • Hi Martina.

    There’s a post

Long Haul Travel with Stomas started by SarahH2

Shes an expert on travel and there’s loads of tips

I’ve got an ileostomy so I’m emptying all the time

I think Colostomy is a different bag  excuse my pun

I know I was so anxious about flying but I really didn’t want my stoma stopping me  so I went for it I ate very little the day before and drank water until I was in the villa

Others will be along  with lots of advice

  • Hi

Do you get breaks within the hour that it takes you to empty or do you require the toilet for the full duration ?

You sound as though you have a good strategy in place . But totally understand your concern . I flew recently to Portugal and I did notice one lady went back and forwards to the toilet and no one bothered but she was able to leave it in between .

Hope you have a great time !

Once you get your confidence up you will be planning your next one !
