I learnt on the 27th May following a Colonoscopy that I had bowel cancer. Such a shock as I am very fit, regularly go swimming, gym, walking not overweight and on no medication and had no symptoms apart from a stich like pain in my side. Evidently it has spread to my liver. Now been waiting 3 weeks for outcome of mdt meeting and hopefully a plan. However today’s past call from my support nurse to say she’s trying to get me a bed in hospital to assess my current symptoms and seeing the consultant surgeon on Monday. The waiting and not knowing is torture. I have read positive outcomes on here from Court and others so pray this might be possible. Plenty to keep me being positive 7 grandchildren and 3 wonderful daughters and my husband it’s our 49th wedding anniversary today, we got married when I was 18.

Hi MagieMay, sorry to hear you are having to wait for your treatment plan. The waiting and not knowing is awful. I hope you get your plan soon so you can get on with getting rid of it.

I am another stage 4 bowel cancer success story- it is definitely possible to get a great result even with spread to liver. I had a bowel tumour which had grown into my pelvis and two liver mets. That was diagnosed almost four years ago and I have been cancer free for nearly three years now. I had radiotherapy to shrink the bowel tumour, six months of chemo to blast the liver mets, bowel resection with permanent colostomy (which is genuinely no problem now I'm used to it- been in the sea and on water slides with it), and liver resection where more than half my liver was removed.

I know when I got my diagnosis I worried that stage 4 meant my treatment options would be limited, but I was thankfully so wrong and there is so much the surgeons and oncologists can do to get rid of it. Sending you all the very best for your treatment plan and hope you can get started soon xx
