I started having symptons 3 weeks ago. I am fairly sure it is Cancer as I have 50% of the sumptons. Can anyone tell me how I would know what stage the cancer is at?
Hi 6 of us
The symptoms are different depending on where the issue sits in the bowel. However the symptoms are the same for any problems there. My husband had IBS now Diverticulitis and has had several investigations for polyp’s which have been removed. I have had one colonoscopy in my 67 years and then I had the relevant tests for my LAR operation last August. I was staged after the operation.
So it’s not a given that you have cancer in fact most don’t.
I know it’s worrying but once you’re booked in you will have a team of specialists ready to deal with whatever the problem is.

Thak you Artsie
You are echoing what my partner has told me over and over, "stay away from google", but it is scary, I have 2 daughters, grown up thank Goodness, we are very close, already the younger one is crying, so glad she has a loving husband. I will have to endure the wait, but it feels so long, and it is less than a week since the FIT test came back positive count 20.
Thanks again
Hi 6 of us, I had a FIT test come back positive count 287 and following a Colonoscopy they found nothing but some inflammation of the bowel wall and not one polyps. I was sure it was more serious. I checked on Google for the top tips for bowel preparation and some of them were really useful. I also had the air/gas mix instead of sedation and was glad that I did.I spent weeks worrying about it and it was a real anticlimax.
Good luck with your treatment. Best regards Reg
Hi. It’s really scary and a complete mind melt down at times. Chat on here if it helps I did meditation or mindfulness and watched happy movies anything to take my mind off it.
I didn’t find this place until after my operation and it’s been such a support.
I had the sedation through cannula and gas as I was so stressed and tense. I will opt for that again.
Some folks have nothing.
I did that on a further endoscopy but it was a long uncomfortable process. I’m going for the knock out version if I have choice next time.
Ann
As artsie says the tests will give you results which can then be dealt with.yes dont google, out of date often.
I didnt have sedation or anything with my colonoscopy but if you are at all worried there are lots of options available.

Hi, just to let you know the results of my CT scan. They found a thickening of the decending colon. I can tell they are already treating it like Cancer, they have given me the booklet and instructions where to go for emotional and other kinds of help, without saying to me " you have bowel cancer" they are arranging keyhole operation to remove this thickened part.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
