Hi all
Im currently in hospital just been diagnosed with bowel cancer and two spots on my liver
i have to to a oncologist and specialist to discuss my treatment
I’m terrified. It feels like I’ve been written of already
and will be at least two weeks before I can see a specialist
I honestly don’t know how to get through the next minute
sorry for sounding like a baby . I’m just so stunned
just want to run away .
Yes I no. Try yo be positive, don't lisen to the doom and gloom mongers. I made myself a promise to only have positive people around me it does help, my oncologist told me to try the Mediterranean et and keep active.Ive been stable for about 18 month. Once you get a treatment plan and settle into it things will calm down Stay strong and positive
Hi and a warm welcome to the board from me. This must have come as an awful shock but there are lots of options available and the various specialists will get their heads together and decide on the best treatment for you. Please stay away from google - it can be misleading and scary. It’s normal to have a couple of weeks wait to see the specialists as it gives them time to get all the scans back and decided on a plan. If you want a positive story then have a look at courts profile
Please keep posting and we’ll be happy to help you through this
Take care

Hi
It must be frightening for sure to hear that cancer has spread ! The liver is however a big robust organ and depending on the size and location of the tumours there are still treatments available despite a spread !
To put that in context my mum had disease in segments four through to eight but one to three remained clear . You will discover there are criteria for most procedures but most people with a spread go straight to chemotherapy and that can be a good thing ! Not only does it work systemically on microdisease but it can also start working on the visible disease ! It becomes a case of managing the disease with often different specialties getting involved . Sometimes chemotherapy not only offers stability but shrinkage ! Depending on the size some liver patients make it to centres of excellence for their liver where the surgeons can get to work . Others get input from radiologists and use radio frequency ablation and others use various chemotherapy options or now Immunotherapy too to control the disease !
If you click on my user name you can read my own mum’s story as she navigated this along with her team !
At the beginning it is totally understandable to think you are being forgotten about as the process to gather the information and wait on the various MDT meetings to form their opinions on the best treatment plan for you takes time ! Then all of a sudden there is movement and it does start to feel as though something is being done !

Hi Darcyolly, if there is one piece of advice to take, stay off google. Unfortunately I didn’t take it and I’m an anxious mess. Yes I’m inpatient and want everything done yesterday. I think its because its cancer and I thought it would be treated straight away. Was I wrong., the waiting is the worst. I had scans today, I just worry myself sick, I tried to look at the internet for the positive, no didn’t work. I’m sending best wishes and hugs xx
