Hi can anyone simplify my husbands discharge report please I don't understand all the medical jargon and couldn't ask anyone at hospital as I wasn't allowed to visit and we aren't seeing anyone until 2 weeks.

  • Hi

I don’t think we are allowed to actually do that ! I will check . I think that’s a report on the scans before surgery given the comparison of sizing . What’s more important is what the surgeon told him after the op . As long as they were happy that’s all that matters .
Radiologist reports are really hard to work out.

I will check and get back to you .

Hope he is enjoying being home  and recovering .

  • Thank you Court that's what I struggled to understand if it was after he's last scan or after surgery. He didn't take anything in after surgery as he was still quite out of it when the surgeon came to see him on the ward.

It's the peritoneal thickening that it mentions that has got me worried as that's something we have never been told about before we've just read it on the discharge paper today.

  • Sounds like the report that went ahead prior to surgery where they contrasted it with the one at diagnosis.
I understand what you are saying about the peritoneal area but the surgery would have a visual on it during surgery as they have a good look around whereas the scans are just images .

I take it they did not mention that ?

You could contact the specialist nurse just to reassure you .

  • All my husband can remember is the surgeon telling him he can go home after a bowel movement lol I'm usually with him for appointments and I ask all the questions and absorb it like a sponge  I have emailed our nurse hopefully she can explain it to me.

  • Great idea ! I think they will be able to reassure you !

  • Just remember the surgeon was delighted with the scan results and had not expected such a good response. L x
