Can I ask how many times anyone goes to the toilet in one day. My husband has rectal cancer, he had a week's worth off radiotherapy about 9 weeks ago, but he feels he can't go out as he needs the toilet all the time, he also suffers from alot of wind and pain in his tummy. He has had his second CT scan and MRI scan and waiting to now see the specialist. Any information would be appreciated.
Hi Gunners63
Just going to tag into this post as he has just had similar treatment and might be able to discuss the toilet aspects with you .
I certainly would be seeing if his team had any solutions or able to guide your husband .

Hi Gunners 63
i have had rectum cancer and had surgery to remove it , i didnt need radiotherapy but i know all about the need to keep going to the toilet all the time , to me it sounds like the radiotherapy has done some nerve damage hence the need to go so often , this is what i suffer from and take loperamide and fybogel , the loperamide slows down the bowel and reduces the frequency and fybogel bulks the stools up ,ask your husbands specialist if this would help

I know that feeling I chose to buy Men’s sanitary trunks it’s a funny feeling which you do get used to walking along while going to the loo but they let you carry on with life. I had about two weeks of incontinence and went through 6-8 trunks a day. These are the ones I used Wilko have them on special for £6.50 for the 8 pack I hope this helps
Thank you for that. I did get him some, which he uses if he goes out. Can I ask did you have radiotherapy and surgery.
I think the radiotherapy treatment must have had the right effect as I no longer need the sanitary wear but if I am away from home I usually wear one and I always carry a change and a bag to put the used one in. I am staying of any food which has a high fibre content and sticking to starchy type food like white bread
Hi. May I know what stage was your cancer please? Do you have stoma bag now?
Hi there. My hubby has T3. No surgery at the moment had to have a week's worth of radiotherapy no chemo as he has heart failure. We have to see specilist next Thurs. They have said he will probably need surgery and stoma. Does your husband talk to you about things. My husband burys his head in the sand which is hard. X
