Hello I’m always asking questions, I went into complete response for mid rectum cancer, unfortunately a small cancer that was 1 cm on my liver. I spoke with a liver surgeon but again I am high risk for surgery. So I have an appointment for RFA,I do think with all these abbreviations I feel like I’m in a scene from line of Duty. I was told that surgery was gold standard and don’t have enough data on this treatment. Is there anyone who can enlighten me a bit? Thank you
Hello.
I recently had a liver resection where two 4mm lesions were ablated. The radiographers and surgeon seemed very confident and pleased with the results. I think they use ablation for deeply embedded lesions or very small ones, which 1cm is. Your recovery will be less traumatic than with surgery and you van have it done more than once.
Hi Elley019 thank you for your reply. Do you know if it is used a lot? I have my appointment next Friday so I suppose they will tell me what’s what. If you don’t mind me asking, did you have to have chemo after? Or is the cancer gone? Once again thank you.
Evening,
Sorry for the late reply for some reason these emails go to junk.
Yes, I start on the 27th with Capox. I don't think you can really get away with not. The advantage of having chemo though, if you can look at it like this, is that it is a final all out assault on anything that cannot be picked up by surgeon's eye or scan.
I was so stressed about chemo. I had one round prior to liver surgery as bridging chemo due to delays in surgery (Covid) and it was fine. Obviously I depends on the individual and Terence and I did have side effects but I wasn't the blethering mess I thought I would be. So going back to it I'm confident that at worst I'll have a bit of neuropathy for a few days and feel a bit more tired.

Hi Elley019, I had the chemo tablets 10 a day with the radiotheraphy. Sorry to keep asking questions, do you go in for chemo or is it tablets. Hope you are doing well with it. Sending hugs and thank you for your reply.
