I having my pic line put in on Wednesday not looking forward to it at all.
start my chemo in two weeks time
Dear HazG
The prospect of a new experience can be worse than the experience itself. I’ve had two PICC lines inserted, and neither was uncomfortable. Be prepared for lots of waiting while the nurse gets everything ready. If you don’t want a running commentary, ask them to spare you the details and shut your eyes. Neither insertion was painful, or even unpleasant in any way. Unsettling the first time because I didn’t know what to expect.
There’s no reason to think your experience will be anything different, and I hope your mind will be a little easier. And all the best for the chemo.
