Hello everyone. I got a call from a chemo nurse this morning, after getting a complete response from colon cancer. After my A&E scan, for a different matter I had something on my spleen, last Friday got a got call from my consultant saying it was fatty tissue. The nurse said I was discussed in MDT yesterday they want me to have another MRI scan on my liver because it looks like something there, they think it’s fatty tissue but want to check. I’m thinking they know how anxious I am I just saying that to not worry me ( no chance of that) I can’t understand how they missed that last week. Why have I been discussed in a MDT. I thought that was for when you are actively going through treatment. Can anyone she’d light on that. I still very much in the dark with what goes on. Beaned scared today.

Oh You have been through so much lately. So sorry that you have more worry. Hopefully they are just being really cautious and it will be nothing to worry about. Have they said how long it will be before you have the scan?

Take care, thinking about you xx

  • Hi Phoebe they haven’t, what is worrying me is they said spleen in the a&e, no mention of liver, so I was due for a follow up next month on the 15. So I just think that it is more than fatty tissue. Do they still have MDT meetings about you when you finished treatments or was it because of my scan. Thank yo so much for replying.  I don’t know why they phoned me on Friday, the nurse said she would get it as soon as she can. I saying that about Friday but my consultant phoned last Friday with good news. Sorry I’m just rattling on. I so anxious and can’t seem to move forward with my life. How does everyone cope? hugs to you Phoebe xx

  • Hi

They really do give anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis the gold standard of aftercare but it’s also quite an anxious time . My mum has had every lump and bump followed up and most turned out to be nothing . It’s very common just to refer back to the MDT in our experience and I think it’s a good safety net . They just won’t make assumptions they will always ensure they are correct in their thinking and to be honest it’s a very good thing that they practice like that . What is not good is the feelings that come with it . Very frightening at times .

Hoping more good news is in the pipeline.

    Take care ,

  • Hello Court, thank you for replying, as I said I don’t understand my liver was not mentioned only the spleen. I didn’t get to ask questions because I was in a bit of shock. Ive had a ct scan and a ultrasound now a mri. The nurse went on about what my consultant said to me last week. I’m not very clued up on these MDT meetings. She wanted to speak to my husband, and went on to him about fatty liver. I agree with you it is frightening. Take care and thank you once again.

  • Sounds as though she is trying to reassure you . Even giving your husband the information so he can do the same .

Its just s horrible process to wait for all this . I dream of the day there is a 24 hr service with same day results ! Doubt it will ever happen .

Hope you can get out for some fresh air today .

    • Hello Court, if only there was a 24 hour on getting a scan and results. I can’t believe the nurses are only getting 1 per cent pay rise so.agree it’s not going to happen anytime soon,  I know they have watch & wait but I think it’s wait and worry. Aren’t I a little ray of sunshine!,!
