Hi Everyone, My second year CT scan has come back with a small lesion spotted on my liver. My consultant things the chances of it being cancer is around 10% so not to worry (ha ha!), he has booked me in for an MRI scan which hopefully will happen this week or early next. He says if it is cancer I will have surgery and that will be it. Just wanted to hear from anyone with similar news.Thanks.
Hi Jersey Lily
Sorry to hear you have to face further investigations but I am with your oncologist 100% . I think they have quite a firm grasp of the appearance of mets verse all the benign stuff . I really doubt he would have committed himself if he was not confident but also diligent enough to check .
I also think you would recover quite quickly if it was surgery . My mum had four wedge resections first time and her recovery was much quicker than the larger reaction where they removed 73% of her liver . She did not require chemo after either of them.
Hope all goes well .

Jersey Lily. I had something show up in my liver in my initial diagnosis scans and was told it was a Hemangioma which is a mass of blood vessels. I was told it was nothing to worry about and lots of people go through life having them and being none the wiser unless they have a scan. It was picked up on the CT scan then confirmed as benign on the MRI.
Hope you get an appointment through soon
Take care
Karen x
Thanks Kareno62 My consultant said that's what it might be. It doesn't help that the pathology lab neglected to check my CEA in my recent blood tests so I have to go and have another, though when I asked my consultant if it would be raised if the lesion was cancer he said may be not. Not really helpful. Keeping everything crossed. x
Hi Jersey, Lily, in January I got complete response no residual cancer no metts. Went to A&E with pain in my hernia, they gave me a ct scan. Told my they found something on my spleen. Phoned the cancer centre, the nurse knows what a stress head I am and got me an ultra sound the next day. Went for that, said she was putting on the system, my dr can’t get into the system so not up yet, thought I was going to get a quick response. So it’s another waiting game. So I’m wishing you well and hope it’s nothing to worry about, and on that note I should take my own advice. Just saw this post. I don’t not what I’m doing wrong, but some post say two minutes ago and when you look they are 3 months old} M y regular cancer nurse has been redeployed for the time being. So I’ll just wait it out. Take care.
Hi Nelly1955, it's definitely the waiting that's the worst. During my treatment in 2019 my motto was not to worry about the things you can't change, but of course subconsciously it's always there. I have now got a date for my MRI (15th March) so at least that's something - it takes a week for results. I'm currently resting at home having had my Covid vaccine yesterday (AstraZeneca) from which I have horrid side effects. Hey ho! Better than catching Covid. I do hope that you get your results soon. x
Hi Jersey Lily, I had my vaccine over 3 weeks ago, I didn’t seem too bad but the way I feel I don’t think I would know. I phoned the nurse’s again, I don’t usually keep phoning them, but I want the results of my ultra sound. When I spoke to one she said the ct looked like fatty tissue, but I want to know for sure. I never phoned much, didn’t want to bother them. I think my bloods where ok from a&e. Just feeling scared. I’m glad you have a date for a scan. I’m a month after you for my follow up. This has just thrown me. Take care and good luck with your scan x
Hi JerseyLily, I’ve never been so proactive in my life, I would never have phoned, but you know what, I got a call back today because a spread to the spleen is rare but thank God, it was blood vessels that he said I could have had for years, he gave it a name, but I can’t remember. It’s not harmful but it doesn’t need treatment. I don’t think there is treatment. Just want to get passed this. Just doing lots of meditation, overthinking is a problem especially in lockdown. Wishing you well
