hi  everyone I'm new to this group, I got really ill at the beginning of the lock down and was eventually diagnosed with bowel cancer. I'm starting chemotherapy and anti body therapy tomorrow and I was just wondering what everyone's experience is?

    Hi Ammis

First of all may I say welcome to the Group.  Sorry you had a difficult time prior to diagnosis - hopefully tings are improving for you now that you know what you are dealing with.

I had chemo, but have no experience of antibody therapy.

It is important that you make sure that you keep in touch with your Cancer Specialist Nurse or Key Worker if you have any side effects from the treatment.  Side affects differ from person to person and so people can get through treatment with non or very mild ones.\

I hope your treatment goes well.

    Take care,

    VickiLynne

Sorry Ammis - last line of third page should read "some people" -

  • Hi  what regime of chemo are you doing? Mine was a low dose for 30 weeks of 5FU. If this is yours I can talk you through my experience, else I'm sure once you know what you are getting, maybe someone else could help. Take care regardless.

hi everyone, sorry for the late reply, chemo and anti body therapy went okay I think, side effects haven't been too bad so far but I have had a few issues with my stoma bag but from I understand that's pretty common. Another week before my next treatment, hope you are all doing well x

  • Well done . First one under your belt .

Glad it was not too rough and hope it keeps that way for you .

    Take care ,

thank you, have my next treatment on Monday and I'm expecting the side effects to get worse?

    Hope you're doing well x

  • Hi ,

All the very best for Monday . My mum was a bit sporadic with her cycles . The middle ones were fine but some others not so good . But she was really bad a dehydrating which I think made it worse .

Some people sail through this . I hope you are one of them .

thank you all for the well wishes, asking for a bit of advice though, how do you deal with people avoiding you? like knowing you have cancer you lose friends? I get that it's a tough subject but would still like to keep some friends
