hi everyone I'm new to this group, I got really ill at the beginning of the lock down and was eventually diagnosed with bowel cancer. I'm starting chemotherapy and anti body therapy tomorrow and I was just wondering what everyone's experience is?
Tricky that one, . Some people don't know what to say, so I started to say, when I told them the diagnosis, it didn't matter if they think they are saying the wrong thing, just say something!! Didn't necessarily work but opened the communication channel if they wanted it to. You soon know who is just asking how you are as it is a standard phrase, rather than actually asking it, if you get my drift. If the former I tended to ignore the question, unless they asked again, as they were obviously uncomfy. Good luck tomorrow. What regime are you on?
just wondered if you were around to discuss the friendship aspect as I know it was something you have encountered too.
It is not something I totally understand to be honest . But I agree with Gemmary that some get fearful they make the situation worse and need a help over that . Hopefully that’s your friendship group . Or frightened to give you Covid too . I worry sick about that with one of my friends . I keep in touch though .

thank you for your reply, I guess the friends who actually matter will stick by me and the rest don't matter. Things went fine today but it's such a long day, I have a 2hr anti body therapy drip andhen have to wait for an hour before having chemo, fortunately it's only once a fortnight so I really can't complain
Glad it went well for you . You are so right , what a long day but glad that’s over with and hope not too many side effects with this cycle .
I sometimes think we know so much about our friends then situations reveal other aspects we did not know both the good and the bad . Hopefully the good is greater !.
