Hello Everyone . How are you getting on . Encouraging to see you post but concerning that you are getting approached directly .
I heard Boris mention it was a more complex process coming out of lockdown than going into it . It certainly is in my mind . I also feel sorry for frontline workers . Must be a complex situation for them at the moment .

How are all the creative people getting on ? I am going to do some planting today ! I seem to be slowing down a little .

take care ,

    Hi all

Everyone must be concentrating their time just now wondering how they are going to progress into the next stage of lockdown.

I heard on the radio that if when we allowed to have a coffee or the like with a friend in a cafe that we have to sit side by side, what a deal breaker for the winchers around no fun there.

Apart from the three devolved nations what are you looking forward to to celebrate your first treat after lockdown.

  • Good to hear from you .
Hope your holding up ok !

Think they are all getting reacquainted with their irons for the first time in seven weeks . Make themselves look good for tomorrow!! ( joking Upside down)

I have to be honest I have not changed anything yet despite being allowed out to exercise more . I am still trying to make sense of some of it .
Despite the rules many are back working and the traffic has increased here . But I am still taking care . I did get an advert through to do contact tracing!

    Take care ,

  • Evening all, not sure that anything at all will change for the foreseeable future, for those that are shielding. But yes, lots more traffic past. Been more blues and twos as well for whatever reason.

There is a wood opposite our gate where we used to walk frequently, and I must admit I have snuck out and done the short loop a couple of times. Good for the soul! And exercise.

Craft wise I have sewn 2 scrubs and today cut out the other 2, and sewn a top. Getting faster as I know what I am doing, without looking at the crib sheet all the time! We've been 3d printing visor headbands, and it was satisfying to post off 78 of them to a company who sterilizes  them before they go to the NHS. So a void has been partially filled. Still enjoy my field time in the afternoon when I sit on my bench and watch.

  • Hi there,

I am shielding (finished chemo END FEB 20) but i have been doing the following:

    1. First 6 weeks - i did gardening every day. I went out for walks most days with my partner. I was most worried about people on bikes and joggers not keeping to the 2m social distancing rules. If i ever thought it looked too busy i went back home.

    2. For the last 2 weeks i have been working down at the allotment. I take my own tools Every time i go and apply social distancing. Some people don't seem to know the meaning of social distancing.

I wear the surgical gloves when opening or closing the gate. I wear gardening gloves on top of this.

I don't go shopping but would love to.

I think i will be wearing a mask, gloves  and shield when I do Start to go shopping. Again if it is ever too busy i will return home. I am hoping that i will be allowed shopping in July when my shielding period for now is over.

Not seeing friends or family is the worst part. Whenever my partner and i go for a walk i always say, shall we pop into the pub for a quick drink or cup of coffee.......what i really miss.

    Good luck everyone

    Paula xx

  • So I am adding the 13 th today to this thread ! A wee double up but I wanted to add to some of the comments .

I think you are a true hero doing all that . My sister got hers through and visors are great . It makes me feel so much better that she has protection on her face . The wee glasses they were given fell right off . I shall clap for you on Thursday as you are doing a great thing.

you made me laugh about popping in for a drink . My husband gets up some days and asks me where would I like to go for coffee ! It would be nice . I totally agree that some people participating in exercise don’t know two metres and one spat as the past me . Not to mention the poor man who sneezed three times today right in front of me . He was almost contorted trying to stop it .

I would love an allotment and you sound as though you are being very careful . I have to say I now find shopping stressful . I can’t even believe I have written this !

Anyone noticed any changes today . Although ours is not supposed to have change I have one neighbour who has restarted his business which is patient orientated and no PPE ! Yikes . Lots of traffic etc .

We shall see how it goes !

Another lovely sunny day .  It could be my imagination but the air seems better than normal !

    take care ,

  • , please can I have the sun? Spent the day feeling cold under grey clouds and a wind. Yes, lots of traffic here too.

I don't feel I deserve a clap, as I am doing this for myself in a way, as it is helping me feel wanted, and giving me a focus to help me get through this. It is also my way of saying thank you to all the many NHS staff who have helped me over the last 3 years, and no doubt will continue to help me.

When I have a bit more stamina, I will attack my soft fruit area, probably too late for this year, but I can get rid of the weeds at least.

    Stay safe, all.

I have a question I’ve printed enough headbands for 60 shields but struggling to find visor material.

what thickness should I be looking for, I can get A4 binder covers after reading the information here but they are only 175 microns - is that thick enough?

  • Hi,  , I can't remember  now, can try and check. The last ones we printed were sent to a place that sorted them out, again can't remember. Is this still a thing? We still have some here, what were you doing with them?
