Hi all, A symptom I have been having for about 4 mths+ now is heavy sweating at night....... no heating on, but duvet or t shirt very wet. Just the top part no where else.
I have found this can be associated with many things. One being a Lymphoma cancer. I am T3 N1 M0 Stage 3. Ascending Colon removed 2weeks ago. healed well except for on port hole and area which is still painful. Seeing surgeon this coming Friday for post surgery check up before Chemo starts mid Sept. See Onc early Sept.
No other symptoms, no lumps anywhere else, no weight loss etc.
Night sweating can also be a sign of a natural and positive body reaction in fighting an infection / fever as well.
Has anyone else had this sort of symptom?
There is a standard blood test that can check for Lymphomas.
After all my biopsies and blood test this has not been raised.
With all the standard blood tests that are done when you have diagnosis for Colon cancer and then surgery (I had 5 vials of blood taken) do these blood tests pick this up or does the team need to do another specific blood test?
Or is this sweating a complication of Colon cancer anyway... thoughts and experiences welcomed.
Will contact my key workers this coming Monday
Best wishes to all.
Alan
Hello Ajp6351
i am glad changing your bed helped .. we have a tempur bed and matress which is great i am sure I’d be worse in standard bed .. mine are relentless I’ve had no diagnosis yet but have all the symptoms of bowel cancer and I’ve been left by hospital for 5 months with no diagnosis they’ve been totally irresponsible to be honest .. finally got colonoscopy booked 7 Feb
Hi Flamingo
i appreciate you posting .. I’ve not had a diagnosis or any treatment yet but have all symptoms of bowel cancer GP has testedvmy thyroid .. checked for infection (twice in two full blood counts) re+check hormones and I am definitely Post menopause and I never had a bead of sweat during that .. I sweat head to foot every 30+40 mins day and night it’s awful and so so tiring.
I don5 think it will go until I get diagnosed and have treatment
I am so glad yours went for you
take care
That doesn't sound right making you wait all this time.
Good luck with the colonoscopy (I was terrified of it! It's not that bad)
Please come back and update us
No it’s not. Right. I was in.With a severe rectal bleed. I was in 8 days in September and they’ve done a camera in left bowel and found precancerous polyps. Which need removing but I have to come off wararin first. i have many bowel cancer symptone. GP has chased and my haemotogist and me several times and the person who did sigmoidoscopy on left side asked about colonoscopy .. it should of been done ages ago .. the sigmoidoscopy was meant to be within two Weeks of leaving hospital but was 13 and a half and then colonoscopy was chased up even more and it’s now 7 Feb. Sigmoidoscopy was 29 Nov it will be.3 days short of 5 months and no diagnosis. If It is cancer it could easily of spread and the consultant knows my other health conditions surgery is very high risk for me so that’s another reason why it shouldn’t of been left this long ,,,But sadly o am not the on,y one it’s happening too much.
I had surgery 2 1/2 months ago and still have night sweats exactly as you described. Have yours gone away?

Night sweats come up quite a lot post surgery . Did you have radiotherapy ?

Sorry that went before I got the chance to finish !
The only encouraging thing it seems to be in the period following surgery people report it .
If you want to read some of the research articles on it I find pub med a good search engine for the medical stuff .
Take care ,

I underwent a colovesical fistual repair operation performed laproscopically. It involved removing a section of colon that had formed a tunnel to my bladder and the resecting the colon to the rectum. For the first two weeks everything was fine but was experiencing the normal pain levels expected after major colon surgery. On the third week I started to develop a mild fever and night sweats. My PJ's were completely soaked as were my pillow cases and my bed sheets. The night sweats were so intense I would actually get severely dehydrated. My urine at 3 am was intense orange color and I would have a splitting headache. These are all symptoms that resembled the dehydration caused by the UTI I was experiencing before the operation. I had my urine tested for bacteria and none was found. After reading the posts on this forum I now believe the night sweats might be a normal side effect of major surgery. I can't tell yo how relieved I was to read all these posts about the excessive night sweats. It put my mind at ease and help me calm down.
I didn't know I had colon cancer until I had the poo test. Previously to that, 10 years earlier I started getting very very hot, day and night. Because I had a hysterectomy, I was told it was the menopause. I took hrt for 2 years, which didn't work. The heat continued to get worse over 10 years. In the end after a colon cancer diagnosis, I also found out I had prediabetes and was very aneamic. I had no bleeding, just 1 stomach infection, and lots of fatigue, memory loss, anxiety, insomnia, constant music in my head and very low blood pressure and Hyperhydrosis. I am now 1 and a half years in recovery. I still have some anxiety, but most of the above symptoms are disappearing on their own. I think the heat symptoms were my body trying to tell me there's something wrong. X
