I was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2025 at the age of 88, and had robotic surgery at my local NHS hospital to remove the tumour. It was of the grade 2 variety
Every two months I have a blood test to see if the cancer may have spread - and todate they show negative
However, I am now getting the same symptoms as prior to the initial diagnosis in mid 2025, its manifesting as wanting to go to the toilet even after passing a motion.
Additionally, I have difficulty in passing a motion due constipation and have to use Peristeen or Suppositories to open the bowels
Prior to the operation in 2025, three polyps were found in the colon, and I was advised to wait 12 months before these to be investigated
However since August 2026 I am still awaiting both a CT scan and a colonoscopy and there is a long waiting list
Is there cause for concern ?
Good evening South Essex,
We are all concerned where health is not as it should be. And in my opinion rightly so.
I will assume that you have attempted to follow up with your GP. Do you still have contact details for your oncology team/consultant?
Check with your GP to see if a magnesium supplement will help with the constipation.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
