Hello, I posted recently about my partner, he’s been diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer with spread to liver and lungs to an extent that they are saying they can’t operate and are treating to control, not to cure.
He is due to start chemo therapy in a weeks time. In the last few days he’s lost all of his appetite and energy. He used to go for a walk four times a day but now he’s barely leaving the bed. He says he knows he needs to fight as we have two small children, but is saying he doesn’t think he will be able to get through any of it. He’s recently had the flu shot and was proscribed oromorph for some of his symptoms, but I think it’s made him feel unwell. He’s on complan shakes but it’s hard to get him to even have those.
I know the chemo might make him unwell at first, but I guess my question is, will he start to feel better if the chemo works? Or will he always be like this from now on?
I need hope and at the moment I can’t find any. He’s 43 years old and our children are 4 and 18 months and it’s almost unbearable.
