Hello,So my mom is currently having tests for possible bowel cancer,12 days ago she had a ct scan of the pelvis and abdomen,they did this instead of a colonoscopy,Yesterday she received a call from the hospital to say the colorectal consultant that she is Under wants an urgent Ultrasound done as something has shown in the bladder and kidneys.There was no mention of the bowel but im wondering if something was found there aswell as she is still under the colorectal consultant?She doesn't have an appointment with the consultant booked yet either so we have no idea whats going on and are obviously really worried Just wondering if anyone has been in this situation?

I am sorry your mum is going through this and understand how the need to have more tests must be adding to the uncertainty and worry. I do sometimes wonder whether medical staff think about the effect of the language they use. “Urgent” procedures get answers more quickly than ones put in the routine queue. It doesn’t necessarily mean they are urgent in a life critical sense. I don’t have either colorectal or bladder cancer myself but have metastatic cancer of a different type. I am very familiar with being sent off for a host of tests following a CT scan. I think if you look into the body of anyone past a certain age you find all sorts of things. If they find anything at all, they follow it up. It can mean being sent around different departments and scanning processes like you are trying to complete some dreadful game of hospital bingo, but it all helps to complete the diagnostic picture. Some things may turn out to matter, others not. I hope it all reaches conclusion soon.
