Adjunct chemotherapy - capecitabine 4000mg daily dose

I have anal cancer, my prescription is 2500mg capecitabine. I take 2 500 mg pills in the am and 3 in the evening 5 days a week with radiation.

I have just finished 8 cycles of Capecitabine yesterday at 4000 mg a day 2 x 4 tabs a day over 6 months I have tolerated it well so stayed in the full dose.

On my first go I was at 4000 mg a day (stage 2, no lymph node involvement,well differentiated no EMVI), I tolerated it fairly well despite the DPD deficiency, although they did have to lower the dose at three months.  This time round I didn't tolerate it well at that level so they've switched me to 5FU which I'm tolerating better.

I think it's a pretty standard dose.

Hi Odds_and_Sods  Chemo dosage is based on the patients weight and height and usually starts on the maximum although the dosage can be lowered if the patient is struggling with side effects, capecitabine on its own is generally well tolerated although fatigue can be a problem for some

I only take 1800mg twice a day but I am also on Oxipalitin IV chemo. Seems that everyone is different. Only issues are nerve issues with the Oxipalitin. Hope this helps x
