Hi, my husband's chemo has been delayed because he has a blood clot in his lung that is affecting his heart. We are desperate to get treatment for  stage 4 colon cancer. The main problem is the massive amount of mets to his liver. Has anyone recovered from a serious clot like this?

  • Hi  I had a large clot in each lung after surgery and my chemo was delayed until I had recovered sufficiently. I was in hospital on blood thinners and I’m now on them for life. I eventually started chemo and hopefully your husband will be able to soon x

  • I'm glad you recovered well enough to have chemo. The problem my husband has is its affect on his heart and the speed at which the cancer is progressing.

  • Hi, unfortunately his cancer has advanced and is all over his liver. He is lying on the sofa in agony. The morphine isn't really touching it. He doesn't want to go back to hospital. He's on a virtual ward. He has a news abdominal infection on top of the lung blood clot. At this point we are desperate.

  • Evening LOPEDELOSLOBOS,

If you haven't done so already and have a red card, call the number. Or 111/999. He shouldn't be in pain.

That only increases the stress and anxiety for you both which then exacerbates the problems.

Husband may not want hospital but they will be able to stabilise his condition.

    Good luck x

  • Thanks. Things have improved pain wise but he is very anaemic and is having 2 pints of blood tomorrow. Then cross fingers chemo on Monday. He is very frail though. It's been a race against time to get close to even palliative chemo. Tomorrow is a big day.
