Hi all,

this isn’t my first time on the chemo rodeo, but it is my first time with the infusion (oxaplatin).  I had my infusion on Wednesday and the arm was bad.  I still have neuropathy today (Saturday), I still can’t take the cold either.

any idea how long this lasts as my team are off for the bank holiday so I’m not sure what to expect?

the ‘just fallen into a pile of nettles’ experience isn’t that much fun :-)

thanks in advamce

  • I tried not to touch cold things withour gloves eg freezer and if all else failed used to sit on my hands until the feeling passed .I even cleaned my teeth with warm water to help with the throat spasms and to prevent having to touch the cold tap.

    All the best

  • Hi

my husband went had 6 rounds of oxaliplatin last year and he found that the pins and needles did fade within a week with the first couple of cycles although the later cycles took a little longer. from memory I think all pins and needles were gone within a few weeks of ending treatment. He also found it worst in the arm the canular was in and was recommended to use a heat pad or hot water bottle just above the canular during the infusion and this did seem to really help. It didn’t completely stop it but the pins and needles were less severe and didn’t last as long in the arm.

Best of luck with everything. Xx
