Just after Christmas my dad suffered a heart attack and didn’t relise it after a week he suffered a stroke , he was in hospital for 7 weeks , he was anemic and was diagnosed with a 6cm tumour in his bowel .
fast forward 3 months nearly and we are waiting for a treatment plan , the surgeon meeting said he’s operation would be a permanent bag but he was a very high risk in surgery for operation , the surgeon has been left to speak with heart doctors and this was a week ago . We have not had any more information than this
from his ct scan it appears it hasn’t spread and is contained in his bowel , Caelic cancer I believe they call it in his large bowel ,
what is the next stages , as we are kept in the dark atm and worried
has anyone with heart failure been successful through a bowel operation and had good results to give me hope
cheers all
Hi Zetecs123
Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both infomative and supportive.
Sorry to hear about your dad, it does really sound like just one thing after another. Sorry to that I don't really have any real experience to share though I have had a heart attack in the past but by experience of cancer is via my wife who has Leiomyosarcoma.
People often find that gap after diagnosis one of the most difficult times of all. Do you have any contact details for his oncology team who might be able to let you know when you might find out more?
Other than that by replying to your post I will bump it back to the top of the list and hopefully that might get someone else with more experience to reply. Don't forget to that you would be welcome to speak to the advisors on the helpine if you wanted - 0808 808 0000 - open 8am to 8pm 7 days a week.
<<hugs>>

Hi Zetecs123
I have no experience of anyone going through bowel surgery quite soon after a heart attack but I just want to extend my sympathy and support at what is clearly a very worrying time for you and Dad. As suggested, there ought to be contact name and numbers to reach out to oncology and find out if a plan has been formulated yet but do bear in mind that the wheels do grind quite slowly sometimes! Is dad home now and is he recovering ok from his horrible illnesses so far?
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
