I successfully under went laparoscopic bowel resection surgery on Tuesday. I am not sure whether to buy a belly wrap for support or not, and wanted to see if anyone had any experience of whether it helped please?
Any other post surgery tips also greatly appreciated :)
Thanks

Hi White_Wolf_Mama and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Hi White_Wolf_Mama Personally I wouldn’t think it was really necessary? Recovery is slightly quicker for laparoscopic over open but after a few weeks they’ve pretty much equalled up. Recovery is about 6 weeks so it’s very early days for you yet. Try not to lift anything heavier than a kettle with one cup of water in and no driving until you can safely perform an emergency stop. If you feel a sneeze coming on then it can help if you hold a cushion over your wounds.
Food wise I would stick to low residue for a week or so to give your bowel chance to settle down. Try and introduce a bit of exercise - short walks are good - but build up gradually.
Good to hear that the op went well
Take care
