Hello, I’ve recieved a FIT result of 21 and am being referred for a colonoscopy. From my research I’m aware that’s a low result and there could be many benign causes for this result, but I’m (morbidly) curious if anyone has had a low result and still received a cancer diagnosis? Call it self preservation and wanting to prepare myself for the worst!
Mine is >400ug/g.
on 2 week pathway. Only told yesterday.
13 days of cramps, diarrhoea. No blood can be seen on looking but still test came back as that!
I have had bowel changes for past few months. Gradual changes. Urge to go and can’t. Not as regular. Constipated and now it’s ‘flipped’. Having pain left side and upper left under stomach and right stomach and back where liver is. I can ‘feel’ like there is something there on my left side.
My referral says I should hear by 9th March 2026. (Today is Friday so today? Monday? Do they even call and work weekends?)
Hello. My Fit test was over 400 and I was put on a two week pathway for endoscopy and colonoscopy like you no blood evident but I did get pain in different parts of my stomach a feeling of being bloated all the time with changes to bowel movements. The Colonoscopy found cancer and a couple of polyps. From having my diagnosis at the colonoscopy to having surgery it was four weeks. Things do move fast and can be very alarming and yes they do work weekends I had a CT scan at 6 pm on a Saturday. I am now nearly 3 months post op and having 8 cycles of Chemo by tablets at home. Uncertainties cause a lot of anxiety and stress. But you’re not alone on here.
Thanks for replying. My test was taken on 03/03. I got the results 05/03 and the referral was placed immediately as I was on the phone to the GP. The referral says I need to ring them by 09/03 if I haven’t heard. So they really only had Friday to get in touch. He just said ‘tests’ and assume colonoscopy. I have had 2 of those before in 2006 and a sigmoidoscopy and an endoscopy around the same time. I am still to have my bloods on 11/03 and he referred me for a scan before the FIT results came back. I am still to have these unless the referral for *USC* comes through sooner - which I expect it before the scan - not the bloods.
I was off work 7 days self certified and then went back 05/03 and got the phone call during my lunch break). I went back because I was managing at home during the day - worst on a night, during the night and in the morning. But I had one of my worst nights on 05/03 and early hours 06/03 and considered not going in. But I stupidly did. Colleagues can tell I am not well. I am pale and I have lost some weight. I had a bad evening last night and so decided come Monday, getting a FIT note because work is making me exhausted and I am not comfortable and still having cramps and feeling like I need to go. I don’t take these decisions lightly - last time I was absent from work was 14 months ago and the time before than was 8 months previous and then over a year before that!
I do teach so I can work from home (planning etc) which I can do with a toilet nearby and I can break when I need to and cannot do that with a class 8:45 - 3:15! The last thing I want to do is leave the class suddenly and find the disabled loo is in use or have to endure the walk to the other end of school to the ‘not so private’ toilets.
I do know there are things that it could be that isn’t CRC but it’s the not knowing that is frustrating and I am a person who wants to know everything now and not have to wait.
