I’m mid 40s, been having symptoms of diarrhoea and abdominal discomfort for several months. GP did testing and both qFit and fecal calprotectin were outside of normal ranges (though neither were particularly high). I had a colonoscopy today and afterwards the consultant told me a 5mm polyp was removed and some tissues samples taken for biopsy. I’ve just had a look at the letter I was given to forward to my GP and it states 5mm polyp removed from sigmoid and “all clear to T1”. Can anyone help me understand what T1 is? Online seems to suggest it’s a tumour categorisation, and is a type that has infiltrated superficial tissue, a “pre-cancer”.
is this correct or can T1 have another meaning? None of this was explained to me post-procedure.
Thank you.
Hi KMcC80
My understanding is that T1 refers to the inner lining of the bowel . If they have seen something that has penetrated deeper into the tissue they are inclined to use terms like “ infiltrated” . Then the language goes into how far the infiltration goes and they start using terms like T2 or T3 etc . But it sounds from what you have said thatT 1 is still clear . That sounds positive .
Hope that helps but the helpline staff can access nurses to take through this with you and get a professional opinion .
Take care ,
Court
