Delay in chemo treatment

Hi RosieL25 Yes I think they ideally like to start chemo within 12 weeks but I know it’s the busiest time of the year for hospitals. Could you ring your colorectal support nurse for a bit of reassurance? Remember too that this is the belt and braces mop up chemo - the actual tumour and affected lymph nodes have been removed?

My treatment was in 2016 and I had surgery on 28/11 but then had a few set backs (see my profile!) so didn’t start chemo until 3/4. My chemo was due to affected lymph nodes and the oncologist said she wouldn’t be unduly worried if I wasn’t up to chemo but I did it eventually.

Thanks Karen. I needed that. I think I'm too focused on the 12 weeks thing and because they found cancer in my nodes and blood vessels, my brain is making a mountain out of a molehill. I couldn't get advice from 3 numbers I tried so am still at square one. Gonna just try and get through another month and wait to see what they say on the 26th.

Just had a call from my colorectal nurse after she heard that I'd called in. She said I should've been called by the chemo nurses by 17th Dec to let me know that Cycle 1 starts on the 9th Jan!
