My husband had major bowel surgery and part pelvic exenteration last October. All cancer was removed but there were 15/28 lymph nodes that were cancerous and it was in blood vessels.

He just had his first surveillance scan in October and they found a lesion on liver.

looks to be one met but waiting for PET scan.

Has anybody else had this happen?

Just feel devastated that we are back to the beginning and now stage 4.

is there hope?

we are devastated

  • Hi,

There is absolutely lots of hope .

My mum had five liver mets removed one year then another recurrence where a further five were removed . They took away 73% of her liver and it regenerated and functioned well , free of disease for a further 13 years until her death at 82 years of age .

The first couple of years were the most difficult until stability had been achieve . But she had many , many good time after liver surgery .

I know it’s a difficult time right now but there are many treatments available for liver mets , including surgery and radio frequency ablation.

Take the time you both need to find your feet then it’s best foot forward .

    Take care ,
