Hello

my husband has completed 25 radiotherapy and chemo tablets this summer then has been having further tests

unfortunately cancer is still present, so he’s being referred to the clatterbridge centre in Liverpool to see if he’s eligible for internal radiotherapy.

has anyone had this treatment

thanks in advance

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. • Hi there I am in the same situation with a family member also. They are discussing brachytherapy at the next mdt. He is stage 3. I have asked if it’s with intent to cure but not had a straight answer.

  • Interested to know how you get on. My dad has had radiotherapy and wondered if he could have bracytherapy but was told you cant have radiation twice Shrug tone1‍♀️

  • Hi. I had the Papillon treatment at Clatterbridge, in July this year. Unfortunately I’m in the 20%of people for whom it isn’t working. But if your husband is suitable for the treatment I would definitely recommend he has it. He has nothing to lose, I had minimal side effects. I met many people on the Clatterbridge Papillon forum for whom it did work. The next stage for me is APR surgery and a permanent stoma. So certainly go for it the Prof. who will do your treatment is amazing. Good luck

  • Thank you my husband wasn’t suitable in the end as more left than 3cm so he’s awaiting a date for APR surgery which is daunting but manageable
