My husband was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer earlier in the year. He has almost finished his 26 sessions of radiotherapy along with taking capecitabine tablets.
He has been told that the next step is to have a scan in around 2 months time to find out if treatment has worked. This seems a long time to wait, I wondered if this is normal.l
Hi LindaCRcbc035 Yes that’s completely normal as the chemo radiotherapy continues working for several weeks after the actual treatment has finished? Fingers crossed that he’s had a good response and the tumour has shrunk
Take care

Thank you, that’s good to know that it is normal.
Hi Linda
It was the same for me, about 10 weeks from end of chemoradiotherapy to scan. According to consultant, can continue to shrink tumour for 6 months from end of treatment
