Transverse colon cancer surgery

I have finally a date for my surgery 20/10/2025. I am so scared and confused that I cannot even think properly, I will have my pre op assessment this coming Friday and I cannot think on tings to ask about it. Should I mention the prostate cancer too the colon consultant? I am a mess.... I don't know what to say what to think.... I am starting panicking I think. Maybe I must double my daily dose of Diasepam and forget about anything

Hi Kirby724dd4f1 Good to hear that you’ve got a date for surgery and the tumour will soon be in the bin. Now take a deep breath and breathe. I’ve attached a link to a booklet about the operation and there’s also a list of questions that you might want to ask and a good list of things to take with you.

Will someone be going to the pre-op with you? It’s often helpful to have a second pair of ears there and a pen and paper with your questions on. The surgeons do these sort of operations for a living so are very experienced and I’m sure they’ll be able to reassure you.

Hi Karen,

Thank you so much for your message it is really useful, my wife she will go with me and be asking all the questions, I am terribly for this kind of meetings the nervous taking over and I endup not asking anything important. Thank you so much.
