Hi everyone
I want to say thank you for everyone that has contributed to this forum. They found a mass during my colonoscopy on Wednesday last week and I've spent hours reading through peoples experience and advice (its kept me away from google!). So, I've been given an appointment for a CT Colonography on friday. I was just wondering, if anyone has had one of these before, and does anyone have any ideas why its not a full CT scan? The mass they found was so large they couldn't get the camera past, I've read this doesn't mean its necessarily progressed to the higher stages, but if anyone has any experience/knowledge about this I'd love to hear from you. They did take biopsys - so waiting on the results of those
Thank you, Cheryl
Hi Cheryl523989e66c0 and a warm welcome to the board. I’ve not had a CT colonography but I think they’re a bit more specialised and allow for the large intestine and bowel wall to be examined whereas a CT scan tends to generally cover larger areas of the body?
Yes size does not matter in this game (mine was 40mm but I’ve heard of much bigger) but staging depends on how far the tumour has grown into the bowel wall and whether there has been spread to other organs
Glad you’ve found the posts helpful and feel free to ask if there’s anything worrying you
Take care
