Hi
I am new to this group.. my mum has just recently been diagnosed with metastatic bowel cancer. She was told it wasn’t curable but starting palliative chemo within 4 weeks. I’m worried between now and when chemo starts she will go downhill further. She is only on protein shakes which are on prescription. Not lost that much weight (not even a stone) just wondered if anyone else has been through this worry.
Hi, really sorry to hear about your mum.
I'm unfortunately not going to be of massive help - but can say that I also couldn't eat at some point so had to have shakes too. Dietician was key in keeping my weight from dropping & ensuring I was getting proper nutrition (they did various blood tests too). GP was also involved. Maybe you've already discussed your worry about your mom's nutrition with your GP but that's where I'd start. Wishing you all the best in this worrying & difficult time.
Hi Vixstar91092a If your mum can eat normal food then there’s some info in the link below which may help?
