Hello,
apologies if this has been asked many times but my mother in law has been diagnosed with bowel cancer and we can’t seem to get an appointment with anyone to tell us what’s going on !! We have been told that they are not offering any treatment but we just don’t know what this means is it she can live with this for many years or she is at the end of life. We just don’t know how to care for her and all our lives have come to a holt. She isn’t eating and has lost so much weight I just don’t know what i can do to help her.
foes anyone have any numbers of people who we can get some answers from?
Thank you
Hi LottyB welcome to the forum and I am very sorry to hear what's been happening for you. I'm uncertain about who gave your mother in law her diagnosis? I'm curious because normally tests are done, biopsies taken and then meetings take place with the person to relay the findings and any treatment plans..Is she OK with you speaking to her Team at the hospital where she had her diagnosis? Or her GP? Alternatively you could maybe speak to someone at the Macmillan Line and seek advice from them. 08088080000. I hope that you manage to get some answers for you all. Best wishes for now. Gail
Thank you ye she is we just don’t seem to be getting anywhere with the meeting. She had an operation and the team had the CMD meeting but we have only seen a doctor in passing who told us the diagnosis whilst she was in she hospital which she was there for over 7 weeks and is now at home we seem to be even further away from getting to talk to anyone. We feel like we can’t even breathe x
Hi LottyB,
that doesn’t seem right to me. I would call the hospital today and speak to the colorectal nurses and ask what is happening and for a face to face appointment where you can ask questions.
Your local hospital may also have a PALS team who can help.
I also agree with Granny59, Macmillian can offer advice on how to go about getting answers, or at least who to speak to.
good luck!
