Hi fellow forum followers,
I finished 12 rounds of Folfiri (very lucky as had minimal side effects) on 16th May but couldn't get a CT scan until 13 June. I didn't give this too much thought, which is my default position, until my results, which showed that the primary tumour and tiny lung Mets were still responding but that the scan had revealed 4 nodules on my liver. I could vaguely hear the doctor saying they were sub 1mm but the fog had descended. I'm being put on Oxiliplatin and the dreaded 5FU pump but I can't start that until a week on Friday. After bumbling along quite happily, I'm back to blind panic mode. The doctor was great and promised that we were fighting together and that there were other treatments down the line but I'm still feel as though I've been hit by yet another truck. Any words of wisdom from the wise people here?
My Mum had an autoimmune disease that caused bile to leak into her liver, resulting in these very small (1 or 2 mm) lesions. She was checked every 3 months and they would zap and new ones with radio frequency ablation… maybe worth asking whether that’s on option for you?
Hi Crackon
That is tiny to be honest . My mum had five and some were 5 cm .
My mum had surgery , chemo but some people use radio frequency ablation .
Did you have a gap between your scan and starting chemo ?
My mum had a spread to liver and lungs and lived for 15 years with it .
Getting stability and bringing it under control is normally their first approach with chemo . They can target all areas at once .
Take all the time you need to find your feet .
A difficult consult for sure but you will get there .
take care ,

Thank you , Court.
I don't really have any symptoms apart from minor ones caused by chemo so I'm usually in a state of semi disbelief until scan results, when it becomes real! I've not had any chemo for 6 weeks. There will be a gap of 3 weeks between scan and my next round. Your mum's story has made me feel more positive. I'll settle for another 15 years at this point!
As my user name says, I just need to crack on...
Thanks again.
