Cool mitts

Had splenic tumour and 45 adjacent nodes ( 5 positive) removed on March 13th, with laparoscopy.

Uneventful recovery, and of course as soon as the lymph node involvement was found on biopsy, the standard of care protocol kicked in.

I have an excellent young oncologist, and we have agreed to the 8 cycle CAPOX protocol, and including agreement to a fairly long list of adjunctive support that I have suggested ( including around nutrition, fasting, exercise and supplements).

The first infusion was on 15th May, 4 hours, and I’m now on day 11 of 14 of 2000mgs daily tablets.

It’s very early days, but so far side effects are minimal, no fatigue, or nausea, no constipation or diarreoh, no tingling in hands or feet. I do get the extra sensation when touching cold things, but that goes immediately. As I say, early days, and I know full well that symptoms can get worse with each cycle.

Having said all that, the infusion was into my left forearm, which starting to be painful about an hour in, and was very sore to touch for three days, followed by two days of the area around the injection site tingling.

I’ve been recommended the use of cold mitts to be worn during the infusion, to mitigate the local effects of the infusion.

Dors anybody have any experience with cold mitts? Did they help?
