Hey,

I've joined here because I have a colonoscopy next Friday due to stomach pain, blood in stool and daily diarrhoea for around 6 months. Very strong history of colon cancer in my family (5 members both male and female youngest diagnosis 34, oldest 66) I'm 35, female. Blood tests have been mostly normal, mildly elevated haemoglobin, haemocrit, platelets and ferritin but combined with my physical symptoms the doctor is quite concerned about cancer.

Just wanted to join to be around others who understand the worry xx

  • Hi  ,

You are in the right place ! There is so much support here. Post questions or search the forums too. I’m supporting my husband who was diagnosed last September after a FIT test followed by a colonoscopy We found that they told us on the day that they had found something and were 90%+ but needed extra tests ie CT & MRI scans to confirm.
So I would say make sure you take someone with you for support & to take notes if needed. The nurses are usually very supportive too. We unfortunately don’t have experience of what happens if all clear. Good luck next Friday we will be thinking of you and there are lots of people here who can give you support. It’s been a godsend for us xx

  • Hi Bella,

Thank you for your lovely reply. I'm so sorry about your husbands diagnosis, sending huge hugs!

The colonoscopy seems to have come round really quick all of a sudden so just the pleasant prep to do and then in tomorrow. I'm taking my dad with me bless him.

Thank you for your kind words :)
