My husband has been diagnosed with both throat cancer and bowel cancer, they are treatment the throat cancer first as it's more important how long would it be after treatment (radiotherapy) only, would they start treatment for the bowel, any information gratefully appreciated.
Hi Netti and a warm welcome to the bowel page. I think that’s a question you would have to ask his consultant to be honest? I had radiotherapy as part of my treatment for rectal cancer and it continues working for several weeks after the actual treatment has stopped which may have a bearing on the timescale. I notice in another post you mention that the tumour is in the large bowel? If this is the case then surgery would probably be the first option without the need for a stoma?
It sounds like you are going to have a tough few months ahead but please keep posting and we’ll be happy to help and support you both through this
Take care
