Do colon cancer symptoms come and go?

Is it possible to have blood in stool, then nothing for 6 months, a clear CBC and blood tests, and then blood in stool again now?

(No weight loss, fever, fatigue, but have had some constipation and lower abdomen pain with the start of my period. Can’t tell if stool blood is from period blood or something else… 27 female)

My dr is booked up

  • Hi

    Welcome to the forum .

If you have blood in your stool you need a colonoscopy. There are many reasons and benign conditions that can cause blood in the stool but cancer is also one of them so they like to have a good visual on it , take any tests needed .
Bowel cancer caught early have very good outcomes overall so please do take care and get the tests .

    Take care ,

  • Hiya

yes, early symptoms can show up then fade away over quite a time, years even.I was diagnosed in Oct 24 but to my shame I had seen blood now and then as far back as 2021 and not really acted on it. I was told then it was piles , and of course that turns out to be untrue. Have you done a FIT test? Not conclusive, but a very detailed examination of a sample of poo looking for microscopic traces of blood.

Let us know how you get on Relaxed

  •   That’s a great idea from Nevermind. My GP provided me with a FIT test last year so perhaps you could ring your doctors, explain the problem and request one? It might help to fill in a symptoms diary too?
