Diagnosed in March 2022 with stage 4 bowel cancer which had spread to the liver. After 2 bowel and 2 liver operations, plus 3 lots of chemo and some radio therapy it was decided to go for a Tempus blood test, this involved sending bloods to Chigago.
The results came back showing a ATM gene mutation. Has anyone experienced this and what was the treatment.
I do not have this mutation but I know this is a genetic condition that will predispose you to cancers. So you are more likely than the average person to get cancer. You'll need to talk to your doctor but they should be very aggressive about cancer screenings to try to catch stuff early.
It might also impact how they treat your current cancer. It's more about choosing the best treatment than a specific illness. Your doctor is your best source of information. I think this condition is fairly rare.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
